As an aquatic ecologist and digital content creator, I hope to connect people to the importance of ecosystem health.
About
I am an aquatic ecologist, writer, and science communicator. While my home will forever be the Pacific Northwest, I am currently based in Providence, Rhode Island, where I am finishing my graduate studies. I am currently a masters student at the University of Rhode Island, studying marine ecology with a focus on a neurotoxin-producing harmful algae called Pseudo-nitzschia.
Prior to starting my masters degree, I spent five years working in invasive species management, public engagement, and habitat restoration. I am passionate about both sides of the work I do; studying ecological systems and engaging with people.
My scientific and science communication portfolio is varied and diverse, speaking to a broad range of interests and a dedication to and love with the natural world. My research experience ranges from boots on the ground ecological field work to bioinformatic expertise in time series, molecular sequence, and ecological data. My science communication work is similarly diverse; from teaching middle schoolers about snow algae on top of a mountain to speaking with boaters about invasive species to developing engaging story maps in ArcGIS.
